The Japanese press on the Catalan case

We bring to your attention an article that was recently published in a major Japanese newspaper (link here), Mainichi Shimbun, focusing on the difficult relations between Spain and the Basque and Catalan peoples.

As regards Catalonia, the article refers to the growing support for independence, which is quickly becoming the most favored option in opinion polls. Also mentioned is the unfair and extremely harmful fiscal treatment by the Spanish government. Finally, Omnium president Muriel Casals is quoted commenting on the invisibility of the Catalan issue in the world, compared with the high profile achieved by the Basque problem, with its history of violence.

Fem difusió d´un article recent publicat a Mainichi Shimbun, un del principals diaris del Japó (link aquí), que tracta de les difícils relacions entre Espanya i els pobles basc i català.

Pel que fa a Catalunya, l´article menciona l´augment del suport a la independència, que s´està convertint en l'opció majoritària a les enquestes d´opinió. També fa referència al tracte fiscal injust i molt perjudicial per part del govern espanyol. Finalment, cita la presidenta d´Òmnium, Muriel Casals, que parla de la invisibilitat de la qüestió catalana al món, sobretot si es compara amb el ressò que ha tingut el problema basc, amb la seva història de violència.
